Fosas de la Guerra Civil y el franquismo

The Civil War and Franco's regime turned Spain into a vast mass grave, where victims of political violence were buried. More than 140,000 people were killed by the rebels and the dictatorship until 1950. And more than 49,000 at the hands of the Republicans.
In 2000, one of the first scientific exhumations took place in Priaranza del Bierzo, a milestone in historical memory, and in 2014 the UN urged Spain to search for all the disappeared. In the last 25 years, the remains of more than 17,000 victims have been recovered, and it is estimated that another 12,000 could be exhumed. Their bodies remain in cemeteries, ditches and other places where they were buried without their families being able to give them a dignified burial.
This is the first historical map of the mass graves from the Spanish Civil War and Franco's regime throughout Spain, where you can discover the approximately 6,000 registered graves and recover the memory of some of the victims. A part of history that lies buried in the earth.
